Having bridal portraits taken before your wedding is an old tradition. It  lets you take your most important portraits without the time constraints and stress of your actual wedding day. It also gives us more time on your wedding day.
With a bridal session, you'll have the opportunity to ensure that you love your hair and makeup, are satisfied with the style of your bouquet, get more comfortable with your wedding venue, and finalize your "bridal look." With this 90 minute session, we will capture you and your wardrobe and accessory details, giving us more time on your wedding day to focus on the other important details of your big day, allowing you to live more in your day.

the experience

01.

I suggest your bridal portraits be taken at your venue so your photos feel like they were taken on your wedding day. In my experience, most venues will give you access to the space on a weekday when there are not events scheduled.

The best time to take bridal portraits is 4-6 weeks before your wedding. With this timeline, I can get photos back to you for wedding day use and allows ample time to make any hair, makeup, or accessory changes, if needed.

session checklist

03.

The final weeks of our destination wedding were intense. I was stressed and had a to-do list a mile long. 5 days before our wedding was my hair and make-up trial so it was natural to add a bridal session on that day.
The second I put on my dress, I felt the weight leave me. I was a bride getting ready for her wedding in a few short days. For the next 90 minutes I twirled, ran, climbed trees, and felt completely beautiful in every way.  It reset my mindset, and got me ready to be a bride and in front of the camera. It allowed my photographer time to try out almost a dozen locations at our 200+ acer venue which meant we had a favorite list for the wedding day.
I did wind up making some small tweaks to my hair based on the images but I still think the best images of myself were taken that day. Ryan has repeatedly said his favorite images of our whole wedding album were take during my bridal session. This is why I strongly encourage every woman to take this time to indulge herself and truly allow yourself to a bride with no wedding day stress or time constraints.

Absolutely! We'll still have your Mother zip you in your dress and do you getting ready images. We just won't feel quite so rushed. I'll also prioritize images to match the location I photograph the groom for album consistency.

03. Will we still take portraits the day of?

I alway suggest you do your trial the day of your session. You should have your full gallery before your wedding day so you can look at the images and decide if the color for your lip is just right or if you want to adjust the angle of your part. Its so helpful to be able to point and show what you want adjusted.

02. How does this session help me plan my hair and make-up?

We go slow and carefully. The nice part is these ARE part of your wedding photos so part of why we keep the dress clean is for these images. But unless your walking in the dress for a photo, we pick it up at all times and only work in clean dry areas. It helps to bring your maid-of-honor or sister to help.
